GermanCityGirl's Art Spotlight

Instead of three deviations this time as I had promised, I have five!

First, a profile bust of Tanake. The colours are lovely and her expression is so very serious. I especially like the sideways glance. It's a great piece.

by the wonderful + gifted :iconsjf9687:

Next is a 3/4 piece, also of my Jedi. She looks wonderfully fierce and ready for battle. I love the twinklies around the light saber. What a great addition to the Tanake image gallery!

by the friendly + skilled :icongrantgoboom:

Here's an exquisite version of Tanake in a martial arts pose, carrying Norik's saber. The lines are so beautiful and the artist depicted her so gracefully.

by the enchanted + talented :icontabbykat:

This is the final Tanake of the bunch. The wrapped arms and the exquisite level of detail are phenomenal in the high resolution. She gave her such beautiful eyes too.

by the ever-so-patient + masterful :iconcharlie140588:

The last piece is ironically the inaugural image of another member of the Reconcilers. Meet Até Savale - a dynamic, powerful, and nicely handsome Jedi. He is tremendously loyal and the kind of man one would want at one's side during a battle. Tanake treasures him as a close ally.

GermanCityGirl's Thoughts

Today it snowed. Not just once but several times throughout the day... which is so odd because last Saturday, I was in L.A. wearing sunscreen and flipping on the a/c in the convertible. I dig the weather here but I'm so ready for convertible weather.

I've spent the last few days being lazy online, watermarking images for uploading on dA, and lastly watching cheesy old telly. I've watched all of their episodes of WKRP in Cincinnati and now am making my way through Remington Steele. Pierce Brosnan was attractive back then. As he grew older and finally grew into his head, he gained another point of attractiveness. In my humble opinion anyway...

Our trip to L.A. was a resounding success. We tried some new restaurants and the Chuck and Buffy panels went well. The former was a great deal of fun, lots of laughter. Strahovski's quite hot in person and even though I've surmised that too much Levi would grate on my nerves, he's damn cute too. And it goes without saying that Captain Awesome is... well, awesome. The moderator was Damon Lindelof and he did a bang-up job. The tables were turned on him though when Josh Schwartz demanded to know what the hell was up with the big-ass four-toed statue! Lindelof explained:

"That's actually a great story. We did the four-toed statue on the show and basically we got a note back from the network, which was, 'This is too weird.' We're like, 'Do you watch the show? This is too weird?' And essentially they said, 'Could it be a six-toed statue?' If someone could explain why a six-toed statue is less weird than a four-toed statue, that's exactly what we will do."

Afterwards, during the mad crush to get to the front, I was able to maneuver my way to Adam Baldwin and tell him that he was one of my favourite characters on Firefly. I'm sure he's heard that before but it's what popped into my head... yeah, I got fangirly. I met him previously at Serenity's after party but he was besieged with fans wanting his autograph. I decided not to be that person in that particular setting so I didn't really get a chance to talk to him like I was able to with Ron Glass outside as he smoked.

The Buffy reunion was a lot of fun... if you'd like to listen to the panel, you can find it here in its entirety. We arrived at the Cinerama and waited in an ever-growing queue of fans eagerly awaiting entrance to the dome. I can't wait to post the handful of photos that turned out. I snapped as many as I could but they asked that we not use flashes, so I didn't therefore making my photos on the fuzzier side and not so palatable. I did snap a great one of Amber Benson, she turned and smiled for me - which was shiny.

What else? We learned that Oz would be making an appearance in the comics which made the crowd happy. I've decided to cypher the rest, in case anyone's not caught up with the latest BTVS comic. Gibberish over.

I had the supreme pleasure of briefly speaking with Seth Green again and asked him if he'd pose for a photograph with B., she was too thrilled that he said yes. I got Whedon's autograph on her show's programme. I have it on several other things so I didn't try to push my luck in the throng of people. Considering their handlers were keeping them moving along the stage, I decided to quit while I was ahead. We also got to speak with Jane Espenson, David Fury, and Tom Lenk - all of whom were in the audience.

Ah well, I'm going to eat some of these fat sweet strawberries and watch some more Remington Steele. I think my fondness for this show was for later episodes because these early ones are kind tedious...

Lastly, I had promised to post this so I am:

The first ten deviants who post in this journal will be featured in a journal entry. I will go though your gallery and choose three of your deviations I like the most and post them in my journal for everyone to see! The catch is that if you wish to be highlighted, please copy the bold text and paste it in your own journal. After you've done this, comment back so I know you have...

Make sense? I'm off now for berries + 80s telly.

Mmmm... There really are men that ripen well with age. There are also those who wouldn't merit a glance in their teens but turn a dozen heads once they hit 30+. Something in their features intensifies and it's oh so sexy.

I agree. With their maturation, they just look better than they did when they were younger.

I understand the whole fast-changning-weather thing... earlier this week it was sunny and I was wearing shorts and flip-flops and now its cold and cloudy and drizzly. Texas weather can be annoyingly flippant. Also, I think it's awesome you got to meet Seth Green, he's hilarious.

While my gallery isn't super-impressive, I'd like you to give it a look and see what you like. I didn't really understand the stipulation about me posting in my journal... Thanks!

Can't wait to see the new uploads. You can count the days before top-down season hits! Hold out, girl!

Do you have the Dangerous Book for Boys, or Daring Book for Girls yet?

I'm also posting because I'm more than curious about what you'd find in my gallery to post.

I still like swords.
:icongermancitygirl:
I have seen them but own neither, we did buy the Boys one for GC's nephew.

Oh yeah, I remember Texas weather. I grew up there.

SG is made of the win, one of the celebrities that you enjoy meeting because he's too damn nice.

And the whole posting in the journal thing was to let me know that you were continuing the spotlight on people commenting on your journal.

I highly recommend at least giving them a read. Emily (my wife) got me the Boys book for Father's Day last year. It has some EXCELLENT information and activities in it. It even mentions role-playing games!

I'll check them out then for sure :)
