Ever have mediocre food that you don't really snap to until you are 1/3 of the way in... because you are hungry enough to not discern the lack of flavour?
Yeah.
I went out to eat today with my friend B. + her daughter. They was good bread to start off the meal so that was promising enough but when my entrée (crab cakes + shrimp) arrived, I dug in happily. And it ended up being just bland and uninspired. It didn't click though until I had a few bites to really taste it? Does that make sense? It finally arrives to the table and I tuck in happily. I took some bites. I had some of the fries (which were good) and then took another bite of the crab cake and went... bleh.
I think I've been burned enough times with hit and miss food there that we won't be returning. You've been warned so moving on.
The rest of the day went well though. Dropped back by the house to retrieve GC and then to Carkeek for a bit of outside time so B's daughter could run around and enjoy herself.
Picked up some small things at Daiso:
- a small milk pitcher for tea
- a black ceramic flat plate
- a small saucer ringed with red glazing
- a bag of baked potato crunchy things
- a whole bunch of display cases for toys (ongoing project)
I heart that store dearly. Check it out if there's one near you.
Anyway, I dunno what we're going to do tonight. It's our one night with nothing specifically planned so it feels good to vegetate. Maybe I'll make something munchy and we'll watch a good movie.
