1966 Imperial
"Black Beauty"
Customized by Dean Jefferies

The "Green Hornet" debuted in 1936. Thirty years later, television revived the characters in a series starring Van Williams as the Green Hornet and martial arts legend Bruce Lee as Kato.

Built by legendary customizer Dean Jeffries, a specially modified 1966 Imperial called "Black Beauty" was driven during filming by Lee and served as the crime-fighting team's on-screen transportation.

The car put a wide array of apparatus at the driver's disposal: it could create a smoke screen or spread tacks on the road to puncture the tires of pursuing vehicles, and it was fitted with a television camera that could see many miles ahead.

Collection of the Petersen Automotive Museum.

Bruce Lee again. Go figure. Also, I wants the PRECIOUS!

I've heard that a studio is thinking of producing a Green Hornet movie with Greg Kinnear as the Hornet and Jackie Chan as Kato. I question this thing, but wouldn't mind seeing it.

Chan's a bit too old for that role. Don't get me wrong, I  Jackie but I dunno if he'd be a good fit for Kato.

That's where I am. I think I'd make a great Kato, but barring that, I'd like to see a younger face from Hong Kong cinema make the jump. Maybe Nicholas Tse. Actually, Donnie Yen would be good, and he's already been in American cinema, though it was Shanghai Knights, so I don't know if it counts. Still, he was an AWESOME villain in that movie.

Time and Tide is one of my fave Tse films... have you seen it? I like Yen as well, he might work.

The only Tse movie I've seen is Gen-X Cops. I'd like to see him in Dragon-Tiger Gate, and there was one where he played a demon-hunting ghost, but the title escapes me. I just think tha he has the right mix of look and skill.
