1966 Batmobile
Driven by Adam West and Burt Ward in the movie Batman (1966) and in the Batman Television Series (1966 - 1968)"

Built by George Barris, this is the original Batmobile that transported Batman and Robin (Adam West and Burt Ward) on their many crusades.

To create the special car, Barris imaginatively modified an existing Detroit dream car, the 1955 Lincoln Futura into one of the most recognizable movie cars of all time.

Retaining the shark-like contours and bubble top of the Futura, the Batmobile was endowed with crime-fighting accessories like a rocket launcher, Batscope, Detect-a-scope, and flashing lights.

Popular with audiences, the Batmobile was featured prominently in both the movie and television series and remains one of the most memorable fantasy cars of the 1960s.

Collection of George Barris, photographed at the Petersen.

I love the colour scheme... despite the crappy gas mileage, I'd drive it.
