GermanCityGirl's Art Spotlight
First here's a groovy piece with Bebe. She's relaxing with some music while she leaps about on her skates. The motion is wonderful and I dig that soft belly. Her clothing design is also aces especially that jacket.
by the lovely + talented The next one is a sketch of Tanake. She captured her loveliness quite well. I like that her delicate features coupled with her strength was captured. And I like the coloured saber to offset the sketchiness.
by the giving + generous The final one is of Tanake once again. He portrayed Tanake saber in hand and fist clenched. I like the oranges of the landscape. Great job on this one, I was pleased when I saw it!
by the expert + witty GermanCityGirl's Thoughts
Quite a bit has happened since my last journal entry, about three weeks worth of life.
1. The Seeds of Compassion event with the Dalai Lama and Dave + Tim show was amazing. We've had the pleasure of seeing multiple DMB shows over the last eight years in a variety of venues. I have enjoyed each show for its merits and the sheer artistry of the members of the group. That said, I don't think it'd be the end of the music world if DMB broke up? Seeing Dave solo cemented that belief that he'd be just fine on his own or if he performed with the amazingly talented Mr. Reynolds.
2. My birthday was celebrated with our SW game + tasty cupcakes. It was a rather good day.

3. La Dolce Vita at Volterra was a blast. The movie was exactly as I remembered it... well, at least the food was excellent as usual.

4. For GC's birthday, we made dinner at home. We feasted upon an orange soy pork tenderloin, wasabi mashed potatoes, and a salad with Romaine lettuce, balsamic raspberry vinaigrette, cubed Pilota cheese, and glazed walnuts. For dessert, it was a nice apple pie with vanilla bean ice cream... because you have to have apples with pork, right? Heh.
5. The Persian music concert was fantastic. I was amazed at how many sounds could be produced by one instrument. Simply amazing.

6. I had a mammogram late this March after the usual dreaded well woman exam. It was to be no big deal - a routine thing because my mother is a breast cancer survivor. The protocol for screening is ten years before the cancer diagnosis. By those guidelines, I had a ways to go but for my peace of mind, I had one anyway. There was an area of concern so they wanted to see me again two weeks later for additional views and an ultrasound. After agonizing and worrying for several weeks, it turned out to be benign. They'd like to see me in another six months to confirm their diagnosis. While I am thankful for the good news, but it was not fun to wait.
And that was the thing I was holding my breath about... silly and superstitious of me not to say anything but I was in a state of anxiousness already. I think that talking about it would have made me a bit nuttier so I didn't. I did so much deep breathing through the secondary set of films that I was nearly light-headed.
That's the long and short of it.
Life keeps moving along. Sometimes slower than we'd like and other times so fast that the current feels like it will drag us under.
But it keeps moving and that's the beauty of it. People go on and it keeps moving.
I'm going to sleep now. I hope all of you have a brilliant weekend.
